Dear Friend,
There was no doubt after reading the first few pages of Elizabeth Lesser’s captivating new book Cassandra Speaks that the Greek Goddess herself would have something to say about the inner archetypal forces activated by this Full Moon and Eclipse in Gemini.
Yes, indeed, Cassandra along with the emotional wisdom of the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse powerfully foreshadow the highly anticipated Aquarius illumination about to pour down upon us next month, bringing new stories of hope, truth and liberation.
This is Cassandra’s story (adapted from Lesser’s verison):
Cassandra, a princess from the city of Troy, was the beloved daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba. Her beauty drew the attention of countless mortal and immortal men vying for her hand in marriage including Zeus, king of the Gods, and his son, Apollo—the Olympian god of the sun and the light, of music and poetry, of healing and plagues.
Apollo, bent on coaxing Cassandra to choose him, bestowed upon her the gift of prophecy. However, Cassandra wasn’t interested in Apollo and rejected his sexual advances. Apollo was humiliated. Who would dare reject a Greek God?
Enraged, Apollo—the god of harmony, reason and moderation (yes, that’s right)—grabbed Cassandra and cursed her by spitting in her mouth, telling her that no matter what she predicted, no matter what she saw in the future, no one would believe her. No one would listen.
True to his word, Cassandra’s prophetic visions ranging from the death of her brothers to the conquering of Troy were ignored. Apollo’s curse eventually became too heavy of a burden for Cassandra to hold, the weight of it driving her mad, knowing the truth of what she saw and being doubted when she spoke it.
As a metaphor, Cassandra’s knowing, her gift of seeing becomes a curse as no one listens. She’s not to be believed.
Cassandra, an archetypal Sister-Friend-Ally-Goddess-Guide illuminates significant parts of our own complex inner worlds:
…the intuitive gifts we have,
…the judged, devalued, shamed, suppressed parts of ourselves waiting to be seen, freed and acknowledged,
…the part that doubts ourselves, mistrusts what we see, what we hear and what we know,
…the part that knows powerlessness and unworthiness,
…the part that feels disconnected from an inner authority to make a different choice, to see the multiple choices to be made, the doors that are open, the ones that need to be closed,
…the part that’s in need of an organized protest, to rage against insanity, to call B.S. on someone’s lies—our own lies, to tell the world what we see.
So this Mercury-ruled Gemini Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse are divinely timed and well ordered as they’ll ask us to tap into the ancient part of us who is the Storyteller, the Messenger and the Record Keeper, the archetypal energies who’ll shed light upon the stories that we’ve told but also the stories that’ve been hidden and the ones that’ve been thrust upon us.
However, unlike Cassandra’s tragic fate (as she watches the city of Troy succumb to the Trojan army, she’s raped by the Warrior Ajax, later enslaved by King Agamemnon as his concubine, then killed), we may choose to respond differently to the unanticipated, unchosen circumstances that have shaken us awake, forced us to become conscious of what compels us to make the choices that shape our lives.
For this Full Moon-Lunar Eclipse in Gemini, you might call on the insight of the Eternal Student, the curious, fiercely intellectual part of you that’s searching, questing, hungering for information—wanting to know, eager to learn as much as you can.
However, instead of pouring through books, scanning the outer world for answers, an empowered use of the Gemini energy will have you turn your Loving Gaze inside and access your own Oracle for the answers your heart’s questions are burning to hear.
And as you become more self-aware, a student of your emotions and a witness to your thoughts, you’ll begin to hear the parts of you that’ve been silenced, shamed and suppressed, reconnecting to parts in your psyche that hold the vision of how you move forward from here.
Many of life’s circumstances are beyond our control, yet how we respond to them determines who we are becoming. And when we don’t listen, our bodies start to talk, our unseen parts of our psyche are projected onto others.
When our inner Cassandra speaks, we must listen.
As Lesser’s wise professor guide tells her: “Cassandra’s tale is your tale and we must be taken seriously. We must change the way the story ends.”
With so much information coming in, it’s sometimes hard to trust whose thoughts are running through our heads. With so much access to other people’s perspectives explaining why things happen the way they do, we become distracted with what our body is saying, what our inner knowing can tell us.
This Capricorn-infused year has shaken up our lives so deeply. And I’m sorry for the loss, the anxiety and any pain you’ve experienced. It’s been a hell of a year. My hope is that we all can unearth our true values, decide upon the legacy we will leave behind, and live the stories that we most certainly can choose to tell.
There’s no curse that can’t be lifted, no final word, no definitive ending to how your stories unfold. Just your willingness to speak up and out, to reveal the truth of what you see, to honour your values and your voice.
Our stories, our voices matter.
May this Gemini blessed Moon and Eclipse leave you with greater vision and love for how your voice, your story will serve.
Speaking up (more)
& speaking out (a little louder),
sending you my love,
Jenn

Another beautiful piece Jenn! Cassandras story resonates.. how does an intuitive share her intuitive clarity and wisdom with a linear being and mind? The beauty of that is the inner knowing part of me knows how to share and express what the heart knows and the *right people won’t question it!!
Thank you for sharing the insightful questions to reflect on.
Thank you so much, Lisa. It’s a fantastic teaching story. I love your thoughtful question and your trusting answer!!

Love the pic. 🔥 I imagine many can related to the burning heart. But these lines made my day, my year: there’s no curse that can’t be lifted, no final word, no definitive ending to how your stories unfold. Just your willingness to speak up and out TO REVEAL THE TRUTH of what you see, to honour your values and your voice. 🥰😭🙏🏽
Thank you, Sharon. Hopefully that reference to the burning heart you’re experiencing in a positive way. And yes…something about having choice about how our personal stories “end” gets me going. I’m glad you felt something stir too!!
