New Moon in Aries: The Call of the Warrior, the Protector & the Goddess of the Light

“In the long run, we only ever hit what we aim at.”
~David Thoreau

Some of us need to be lit up by an Aries fire right about now.

Fire is a powerful, creative force that can radically transform our lives. It ignites our dreams and lights up our way.

But when the energy of an Aries fire is not handled with respect or directed with love, it burns and we know how quickly it can destroy.

During this New Moon in Aries (here officially at 2:50 am MST on April 5), we can call on the archetypes of Aries and the element of Fire for many reasons:

To ignite new adventures, new levels of trust and intimacy in relationships, to keep the passion alive in our projects and the transitions and transformations we’re making.

Those of you who are Protectors of Love and Beauty may shy away from the fierce, battle-ready archetypes that Aries holds—the Activist, the Defender, and the Warrior, but tapping into this expressive, brave, fiery energy steels us with the courage to stand for what we believe in and holds the space for our dreams and the dreams of others to materialize—no matter what comes our way.

I’ve called on Aries a lot lately.

Big changes personally and professionally have shown where I might be resisting greater joy, ease and love in the process. And as Aries and its fiery nature is also explosive, I’ve been careful not to get burned.

You see I’ve been in this passionate affair with the Divine Fool for Love for many years now, wanting to know the truth of who I am.

To be in a relationship with the Fool, I’ve had to adopt a beginner’s mind, become a person willing to go on the next soul adventure in my very human journey, and learn to trust in a kind, Universal Love that has my back at every turn.

And maybe you’re like me and have had some part of your life implode in order to blast through the Resistance that stops your divine energy from flowing freely to where it needs to go.

Yes, often when the Resistance reaches a boiling point, life implodes in a red-hot moment, letting us know we’ve been frozen, tolerated too much or compromised too often, living out of integrity with what we’re saying we want and the reality we’re living.

Aligned to the Tower card in the Tarot, Aries energy just naturally shakes things up, forces us to make dramatic changes in our inner and outer life to attain the freedom that all souls seek.

The walls come crumbling down and life is never the same, the soul demanding to be liberated from the cages of what no longer serves.  The Tower crumbling, however, frees the Divine Fool in all of us to begin the new adventure.

Aries is learning, however, that we don’t always have to experience these earth-quaking, Tower-toppling moments. We can walk on an evolutionary pathway of joy, creating our lives in tune with that higher vibration.

And still there’s no guarantee that while we joyfully skip down our golden paths, Towers won’t fall again—we may lose a job, experience a betrayal, a break-up or a divorce, have an accident, witness or experience violence, become displaced from our home, be diagnosed with a disease, suffer the death of a loved one.

Most of us will acknowledge the pain and the loss, the chaos and destruction and still keep moving forward as a Warrior does in the face of shocking circumstances, but we may put off reflecting, processing and integrating what we’ve experienced for a much later time.

But with Uranus having moved into Taurus in early March, an Earth sign that teaches us about our relationship to our physical form, many have been called to do some clearing (some say purging) of those areas where the trauma of those Tower experiences has been imprinted in our physical, mental and emotional bodies.  We can no longer ignore tending to the painful things we’ve heard and seen and felt. We are all being called to rest and repair from old hurts and traumas showing up in our bodies, begging us to heal.

NEW MOON RITUAL:
MEETING YOUR RESISTANCE RIGHT WHERE IT’S AT

In our relationship with Lunar Love, we often write our stories on the New Moon and release the old ones when the Moonlight is Full, but with the element of Fire partnered up with this New Moon in Aries, we have the perfect opportunity right now to release what might be blocking us from seeing the new story emerge.

Where’s Resistance showing up in your life right now?

Make a list of each way Resistance shows up—a belief, a habit, an addiction, criticism, debt, doubt, fear–the disguises are many.

Then find a safe place and burn that list, calling on the purest of flames to release the program of Resistance. Some call on the fires of the Violet Flame to transform the lower vibrations of Fear to the Love that will serve All.

Call on the Spiritual Warrior support of Masters such as Joan of Arc or the Goddesses Diana and Durga (check out Durga’s mantra below if you’re reading on your phone–or on the side if you are on your laptop). These fierce, direct divine feminine forms of conviction and direction, love and freedom will show you the straightest path—where your Arrow of Love will hit its target, how your Sword of Truth will make its mark.

I’m ending this Lunar Love Note with a good-bye letter I feel it’s time to write before compiling my own list to burn on April 5th (you might feel called to write one too):

“Dear Resistance (aka fear, doubt, procrastination, drama, sickness, anger, distraction, criticism, not-enough-ness—you know who you are):

I want you to know that I see you—you’re in plain sight now, not hiding in my subconscious running the show.

Thank you for bringing to my attention an edge I’m walking on my journey in consciousness and what it is I need to release and who I need to become now. I’m taking back the energy I’ve been giving you.

I choose to blast through any detours of distraction, deconstruct walls of fear, and bring down any Tower of dishonesty that I’ve created with your expertise.

It is my divine right to know myself as Love, as Creator energy, Spirit in this awesome physical form that I’m loving more and more each day. Do you understand what’s happening? I’m learning that I’m more powerful than any form you may ever take.

I’ve tapped into a well of determination and resilience that runs deep because my dreams are important to me. Let the excuses masking the fear fall away now, so I can see what I need to conquer.

I appreciate the role you’ve played in showing me that Love is much more powerful than any one of my fears, so I’ll be tapping into that Spiritual Warrior energy that Aries reminds us of, so you will never see me frozen on the path again.

While I’m sure at some point you’ll test me when I’m ready to make another leap in consciousness, I’ll simply nod my head in your direction as I sail on by.”

May you find peace in your burning for Love,
Jenn

The Goddess:
Working with Durga

Durga’s truly an amazing Goddess to work with for directly and lovingly going on that faster path. I’d say there’s a gentleness in working with her AND some speed, as you do not have to play around so much with other paths or routes. In that way, you can continue to create and build the growing vision you have for your life and the transformation that your particular life path is offering to you.

The first step in working with Durga is to have the awareness and the courage to call out for her guidance, so her grace and power can touch your life.

Specifically, invoke Durga for these reasons:

  1. To strengthen the positive qualities and intentions we have so we can amplify our individual contributions to others and this planet as well as our collective evolution
  2. To find the most direct and efficient way to those intentions and goals
  3. To clear out the ego-based, fear-based intentions, desires and programs that do not serve your greater life plan.
  4. To feel courage in letting go of the old and bringing in the new

    The Mantra

    AUM DUM DURGAYE NAMAHA
    ohm doom door-gai-yey nuh-mah-hah
(gai sounds like GUY; yey sounds like YAY; namaha rhymes with YAMAHA)

Mantras, when repeated, create a softening of the energy that may feel as if it has a grip on you and moves you toward knowing yourself as the absolute creator of your reality through the power of your word. For us to move to the next levels of our personal evolution, releasing our attachment to suffering is necessary.

Mantras help those of us who would like to see quantum leaps in knowing ourselves as Love and as Sovereign Creators. On a cognitive level, mantras (and affirmations) work to create new neurological pathways that allow us to take quantum leaps in dissolving attachments to fears.

Some people suggest repeating mantras in 11, 33 or 108 times—however, I find that repeating them until you feel a shift is more supportive than repeating a prescribed number of times. Your intention is everything in why and how you do anything. AND…I have found that there is a sweetness in committing to a number of repetitions with thought and care, so of course please use your great discernment in seeing what works for you.

  1. This Love Note hit me hard this morning. I just found myself crying. Last year was hard and I though this year would be easier but it feels like the pace is so quick right now about the lessons. Releasing the new and setting new intentions. And thank you for the free Love Map guide and Durga’s Mantra–it’s my soul work this weekend.

    1. Oh Tara, I can feel you this morning. Someone else sent me a message with those exact words–hit me hard. I hope you find peace in burning the old–all of last year that hurt and what’s been going on this year. I believe the uplift for many of us is here now. Sending you lots of love and light in the meantime.

  2. I love the spiritual warrior! Thank you for sharing your personal letter and highlighting the amazing Durga! How I love her! She is mighty! Thank you for reminding us to power through and to light up our own paths in a delightful, invigorating and powerful way!

    Love you J.K.!!
